New Giveaway! Now I'm giving away Stars in the Night by Cara Putman!

Have you heard about this book yet? Now is your chance to enter a contest and possibly win it. Simply post a comment about your favorite movie set in Hollywood in the 1940s (hint, hint...it will be a black and white film) and leave me a way to reach you if the Randomizer program picks your name. I need to contact you if you win and this past month there were several times people's names were picked but I had no way to contact them to tell them. Bummer for them. I will announce the winner next Sunday.

About the book:

Hollywood 1942. When attorney Audra Schaeffer's sister disappears, Audra flies to Hollywood to find her.

Any day Audra might have been flattered by the friendly overtures of Robert Garfield, a real-life movie star. But on the flight from Indianapolis to Hollywood, Audra can think of little else than finding her missing sister. When Audra arrives in the city of glitz and glamour, and stars, and learns her rising starlet sister has been murdered, all thoughts of romance fly away.

Determined to bring the killer to justice, Audra takes a job with the second Hollywood Victory Caravan.

Together with Robert Garfield and other stars, she crisscrosses the southern United States in a campaign to sell war bonds. When two other women are found dead on the train, Audra knows the deaths are tied to that of her sister.

Could the killer be the man with whom she's falling in love?

My thoughts: If you enjoyed Songbird Under a German Moon you will like this book. They are similar in style and were both published by Summerside.

Well, if I could choose a movie that was set in the 40's but wasn't in black and white, I'd choose The Magic of Ordinary Days. But I really like The Shop Around the Corner.

Can't believe I'm the first to make a comment on this fantastic giveaway. That's ok, today is my birthday, so being first is an honor! My favorite movie of the 40's with James Stewart and Donna Reed, "It's a Wonderful Life." I wasn't old enough to understand "Casablanca" yet. LOL I have been wanting to read "Stars in the Night" since I first heard and read about it. Thanks for this giveaway, Cara. I appreciate the chance to win this book, Michelle. I hope I do!

Blessings,

Oh, I love the film The More the Merrier with Joel McCrea and Jean Arthur. What a wonderful story with comedy, great script, and some hot kissing in one scene. :) I'd love to read this book.

Toss up between Holiday Inn and Easter Parade, both Fred Astaire movies. Only see the colorized versions these days.

Oh, I'm sure lots will pick Casablanca, but I'm going with Double Indemnity from 1944. Actually, as long as it's noir, I'll love it! Thanks for the chance to win STARS IN THE NIGHT - it sounds like a romantic and interesting story!
