Now I'm giving away Cottonwood Whispers by Jennifer Erin Valent!

To enter for a chance to win this book simply post a comment. First you need to read the description of the book, then answer this question.

Have you known anyone who was falsely accused? What did you do about it? This can be something as minor as having watching a sibling get spanked when you knew they didn't do what they were being punished for, to something major like knowing someone who went to prison for a crime they didn't commit. We all know Jesus was killed even though He was innocent and committed no sin, so naming our Savior doesn't count. :)

About the book:

I've heard the dead whisper.

Every time I tell my best friend Gemma that, she tells me I'm crazy. But I'm not crazy. The dead really can whisper, only it isn't their ghosts that do it. It's the memory of them.

The summer of 1936 is one that seventeen-year-old Jessilyn Lassiter will never forget. She had hoped to spend it getting a job, and more importantly finally catching the attention of Luke Talley, the young man she has loved from afar since she was 13.

But tragedy strikes when a cherished neighbor girl is hit by a car. Jessilyn is torn to pieces, especially when her gentle, elderly friend is accused of the crime. She's sure he's innocent but discovers that the only way to prove it could jeopardize her family's survival.

Swept into a grown-up world she couldn't wait to be a part of, Jessilyn searches for answers until the actions of one man show her the beauty of sacrifice and the power of faith.

This book just released on Sept 1st so get it while it's hot!

I don't recall knowing of anyone who's been falsely accused of something. But, if I did, I would most definitely say something to help that person.
This book sounds amazing and I would love to be entered in your draw.
Thanks.

Hmmm, good question. When I was in college, a good friend of mine wrote such a good paper our professor accused him of plagarizing (I really hope I spelled that right). I felt so bad for him, but there was nothing I could do. He took all of his research and sources to the professor to prove he was innocent. He was cleared of any wrong doing.

When I was in Middle School my friend and I were falsely accused of writing on the girls bathroom doors by a teacher. She assumed that because we were the last to leave the bathroom that we must have written on the stall doors. We were punished because it was her word against ours. I forgive her though but it made me angry and sad.

Hi, This book sounds very, very good!
The whole story sounds great. Personally, I can't remember anyone around me in my life being falsely accused of something they didn't do.
Having two sons, I am pretty sure that one has blamed the other for something false. Please enter my name in your delightful book drawing.
Many thanks.....Cindi

I have at times experienced someone being falsely accused.
I am a pretty loyal person, and I love truth. I despise politics and gossip.
I normally stand up for the person accused if I know enough to help out.
That normally gets me in trouble, and gets me labeled as being "on their side". That is fine, however, because I desire to be on the side of truth. Jesus lets us know that truth frees us. Lies, sadly, bind us in an almost perpetual cycle of bitterness, deception, and hatred.
Truth and love must go hand in hand.

I've had my son be accused of something he didn't do, and it pretty much made the mama bear claws come out. ;) I went to bat for him!

I would LOVE this book! I'm a fan of hers!

I had a friend who was wrongfully accused of sexual misconduct. We were really worried that it was going to go on his record & he's show up in those Megan's Law searches. Thankfully the girls parents came to the trial and defended him! She was a liar and had done this to other men before! crazy. This sound like an interesting book, thanks for the chance to win!

This is a touchy subject, and after I tell my tale....
My girlfriend and I ran away when we were young teens. We did get in some trouble, but only if we were together, and not like some of the youth today. We all know how hard life can be when your young and misunderstood. The place that we ended up, was a man who had once been my family's neighbor, so obviously I felt some kind of safety. Well, the hard part is, my friend claims when I was sleeping he sexually molested her. Honestly I'll tell you the same thing I told the court; "I was in the room, the exact bed she was in, and I heard and saw nothing." Little did I know, my friend has a history of promiscuity and partying before we met. To this day, I really don't believe her. Funny thing is, she is still my friend after the court case, and all these years later. Sound fishy to you??????

Thank you for allowing me to share, and please don't be mad for the subject. It's the only story I have.

I remember in I believe it was second grade being accused of yelling in the hallway. The teacher asked the kids to point out who the culprits were so another girl and I were pointed out. She proceeded to take us to another room and interrogated us. She told us if one of us did not confess our parents would be called, etc. Otherwise we would only have to have to do write some punishment homework. Even though we both insisted we had not done it she insisted one of us to confess. The other girl finally decided to confess because she was desperate not to have her parents be called. To this day I still think of that time and liken it to how Salem witches felt except they had it worse because they were actually murdered if they were not believed.

Most situations involving false accusations that I've personally seen involve children. It's always interesting to see the truth eventually come out.

This book is already on my wishlist and I would love to win a copy. Thank you for the giveaway.
