About the book:
Zoe Broussard stands in the shade of the live oak on Main Street and surveys her beloved Louisiana hometown. Wrought-iron galleries overhang the sidewalk lined with brightly colored shops, and the smell of coffee wafts from the brasserie she and her husband Pierce own, to which folks drive all the way from Lafayette for lunch or dinner. It seems like heaven.
But it’s about to become hell. A series of threatening, anonymous notes is making her life a misery—because Zoe has a secret so terrible it could leave the business in shambles and tear her marriage apart. Terrified by a stranger who seems to know her, Zoe must confront her past before it confronts her. Can she find the courage to do the right thing?
My thoughts:
I haven't read this book but I hear the author is a great writer.

I did!! One time, I had very low funds for anything beyond strict needs, and I got a note in the mail with a Walmart gift card to be used for me for fun.
It had no name and I never found out who gave it. I ended up (which was a miracle) finding a black skirt that fit me at Walmart. The reason it was a miracle is I never find clothes that fit me and I like at Walmart, ever. I have not found it since there either. I think often of the person and how it blessed me and hope I can do something like that too sometime. martha(at)lclink(dot)com
I read this one on my Nook and reviewed it on my blog. Loved the story and the author did a terrific job of taking me through a sugarcane field and making me hold my breath :) You'll enjoy this read. Blessings, BJ
No, but one time in 1st grade I wrote an anonymous and accidentally stuck it in the wrong desk.

Kathy's story appears quite frightening and mysterious. It interests my reading appetite. I can only remember an anonymous valentine once and I never did figure out or find out who sent it. I still wonder when I pull that memory out of my past. Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win it. I hope I win.
Blessings,

A friend of mine had a phone scam from a person who said he was her grandson and was in jail in Canada, and to please send a western union or a check to ...... She was sure it wasn't her grandson and told him to call his parents. He gave excuses and she told him to stay in jail. LOL! Then she called his parents and found out he was with them on vacation. Beware everyone!
Yea, I had one time when I was in high school. I have not received any valentines but later the day I got rose with unsigned name on card. I have no idea who gave me this rose. it took me awhile to figure out who was until next day was my female teacher. I thought it was a guy gave me a rose. Oh well, I Love to read Kathy Herman books SHe wrote a wonderfully mystery books.
Actually we did. My husband was in undergrad, I wasn't working and we were expecting our first baby. A card came in the mail that simply said "Merry Christmas" and $100 cash. We never did figure out who sent it.
Ugh, I forgot to leave my email ...

No, I haven't but I did something anonymously.
I was taking an oil painting class and brought my props which included roses from my back yard in a grocery sack. My best friend in the classes, came in frowning and said that she was haing a rough day. When she was out of the room, I put the roses on her chair.
I denied knowing where they came from when she asked. For the rest of the class she was smiling.

I have received many anonymous notes, including ones with money in them. One came with a plant after we moved to a different state. Thankfully, all of these have been huge blessings, not at all threatening. I still don't know who gave them to me but I've learned not to be concerned about that. I just praise God for those persons and their obedience in blessing me after He prompted them.
I would enjoy winning "False Pretenses." Thanks for the opportunity.

Yes . . . one year at Christmastime I received an anonymous note with money. I never found out who sent it and I'm glad I haven't ~ it makes me look at others and wonder if they could be the one. ;)

I worked as a hostess at a restaurant some years ago...
One evening; when I got off
work and went to my car, there
was a note on my windshield.
It said that I would like to get
to know you, but no one ever
confessed to putting it on my
car! I do think it was one of
the waiters from the same
restaurant that I worked at.
Many thanks, Cindi
