Now I'm giving away Raising Rain by Debbie Fuller Thomas!

To enter for a chance to win a copy of this book simply post a comment about the power of forgiveness. Have you seen it dramatically change someone else's life? What about your own? Say anything you want as long as it pertains to the topic of forgiveness. I'll pick a random winner from commenters next Sunday! Have a great Valentine's Day everyone!

ABOUT THE BOOK

Raised to be a 'new woman' by her mother and three college roommates in the 70's amid anti-war protests, feminist rallies, and finals, Rain Rasmussen discovers that putting her career first has left her overdrawn at the egg-bank, and her baby fever has now driven off her significant other.

When her terminally ill mother demands a Celebration of Life before she dies; they all confront ghosts from the past on a 'stormy' weekend in Monterey. Bebe, the roommate closest to Rain's heart, revisits choices that have impacted Rain the most, raising doubts about God's—and her own—willingness to forgive and to be forgiven.

Buy it! Raising Rain.

My thoughts:

I haven't finished this story but what I did read I really enjoyed and I do plan to post a review on it when I get a little more unburied!

I've definitely dealt with the power of forgiveness in my own life. My mother didn't treat me very well growing up. She wasn't abusive, per se, just distanced. Today, we have a very good relationship, but that wouldn't have been possible had I held onto bitterness and-or anger.

I have to ask God for forgiveness every day. I have tried it with some of my family but will not forgive, I love them and pray for them

When forgiveness seems impossible, choose to forgive by faith. I've seen it happen in my own life, and I was set free!
After all, forgiveness isn't a feeling, although feelings may be present, it's a choice we make, hard as it can be at times.

Unfortunately, I think sometimes it is easier to see the effects of not forgiving. I have watched the way bitterness grows and changes a person if they are unwilling to forgive. It is hard on everyone around them. Grace is a beautiful thing and comes completely from God; we would be completely uncapable of giving it, if we did not receive it from Him first!

I believe alot of times that forgives is as much for the forgiver as it is for the forgiven. We all need to be released from chains.

I would love to win a copy.

Forgiveness is a powerful tool. When forgivenenss is given, it effects not only the person that is forgiven, but the person that forgave. I have experienced this myself a few times.

For me personally, forgiveness lightens me. It's like it takes a huge weight off my shoulders. When someone forgives me, it's like a cleansing feeling. Forgiveness doesn't mean you forget and you can't help but to learn to protect your heart.

Just had to say...great title! The cover's inviting too. I know. That has nothing to do with the forgiveness theme going here. But I'll add that I appreciate Edna's honesty.
Forgiveness is one of those things that's all fine and good, so long as it's not required of you!
God, grant us power to forgive.

I have to seek God's forgiveness hour-by-hour. I have seen the amazing power of forgiveness at work in the church, part of how I became a Christian.

I've experienced God's forgiveness first hand, and it is the best thing I've ever done in my life. But, we are called to forgive as well. It's easy to sit back and say, we are forgiven, but do you practice that in your life everyday? I try to be forgiving and not hold grudges in my daily life because I wouldn't want to be on the other side of that coin.
