I'm giving away Sunset Beach by Trish Perry with a BONUS review!

In order to win a copy of this book simply read the review and comment on it. Also, toss in whether or not you've ever been to San Diego or Mission Beach, and if not, if you have a favorite beach. This contest is for people living in the USA and Canada ONLY. I will choose a winner next Sunday, June 7th.

About the book:

Meet Sonata Miller, a recent college graduate with plans to get her master's degree in psychology. With the intention of resolving some family drama and putting her academic interests to the test, Sonny cleverly invites her mother, Teresa, and her mother's estranged twin, Aunt Melanie, to the quiet and quirky beach house. They both show up...and with surprises of their own. Teresa, a successful opera singer, brings her latest protige, Irina, and Melanie brings along secrets about Teresa and the identity of Sonny's long-gone father.

My review:

Sunset Beach is a sweet romance between two young people who are recent college graduates. But it's more than just a romantic tale. It's a story of healing and revealing secrets. It's a story of wounded people learning to love and support each other...and learning to trust and be honest about how they feel. There are many beautiful, Biblical themes in Sunset Beach that make it well worth the read. The hero was yummy, and the heroine was loveable. You couldn't help but want to see things worked out in her family. I found the conflict to be very realistic and well-done. The character arcs were gradual and satisfying as well. I didn't cry my eyes out like I did with Trish's last book, Beach Dreams, but I managed a satisfied sigh at the end of this one. This is a great beach read. For real. Check it out!

Sunset Beach was published by Harvest House and released June 1, 2009.

I'm glad to know that Sunset Beach isn't quite and heart wrenching as Beach Dreams was. The plot sounds intriguing. I have never been to California, although I would love to someday. I can't pick just one beach, because I've lived in two beachy places. In Massachusetts, my favorite beach was Long Beach in Gloucester; in Florida, my favorite beach is Playalinda in Titusville.

Gosh, this sounds like a wonderful story. I'd love to read it.
My very favorite place to visit is San Diego, although I don't think I've never been to that beach. I love the ocean and my husband and I were married on the beach at Ocean Shores, Washington.

I've never been to either of the beaches you mentioned, but my favorite beach is either the Muskegon Beach, with the lighthouse there beside the swimming area, or the one on the south side of Muskegon, where the nature center is. Oh, wait, there is also the Holland Beach, with the Big Red lighthouse right there...

I'd love to win a copy of this book

I have the other 3 books in this series and would love to add this newest addition to my collection ~ it sounds like a great read!

Unfortunately, I've not been to San Diego or Mission Beach. My husband is not fond of travelling, but I would love to "see the world". *sigh* My favorite beach would have to be Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, since it's one of the few I've actually had a chance to visit! LOL

Thanks,
Lori

Michelle, sounds like a great book. Whenever you say a hero is yummy...it makes me want to read it!

I lived in Fountain Valley, CA. (next to Huntington Beach) and Rancho Santa Margarita for many years. One of my favorite places to go was Coronado Island in San Diego. It's a beautiful place and Hotel Del is something to see.

I now live in Kansas and love it. It got to be a little to crowded for me in So CAL.

Please enter me in the drawing. Thanks Michelle.

I love BOTH San Diego and Mission Beach! I grew up loving the ocean on the east coast, but nothing can compare to the blue water of the Pacific Ocean! I supposed I should set my sights on visiting Hawaii...

Some of my most favorite books (Leota's Garden by F. Rivers, and Color the Sidewalk for me by B. Collins) are those that incorporate reconciliation in families.
Sunset Beach sounds just like one of those that does just that. Please enter me.

I've never had the chance to go to any beach. From everyone I've talked to who has, it is a treat that everyone should enjoy at least once.

Forgot to add this to my initial comment.

I've been to San Diego a couple of times and my hubby and I love the beach area down where the boats are docked, and the big aircraft carrier is...not sure of the name of the beach, but it's a beautiful area.

I enjoy Trish's books and don't have this one, so would love to enter your drawing. Thanks!

The mention of "beach" in the title warms my heart. I am holding out hope that summer will eventually arrive; it has been raining and cold for weeks now. I have been to San Diego but never on the beach. My favorite beach is on the Gaspe coast (Quebec) and located in a small village, Barachois. Please enter me in the giveaway. Thanks.

Sounds like a wonderful story. The main character caught my attention as my dd is about to grad college and head to get her master's in Pychology and Counseling. I have never been to CA, but my niece just did an internship with Invisible Children in San Diego and sent me lots and lots of pix.. WOW! Gorgeous beaches! My favorite beaches are in FL... San Destin and Fort Walton area.

I love the setting of the story!
Beaches and Beach houses are so romantic and at the same time, peaceful to me. The romance and the family lines sound very good. I love the beach at the Outer Banks in
North Carolina. Thanks, Cindi

I've been looking for a new beach read, and this looks like it could be it! I've been to San Diego (there's nothing like the Hotel del Coronado and the SD Zoo!) but never to Mission Beach. My favorite beach is the one not far from where I live here in Florida: Honeymoon Island. I also LOVE Ocean City, MD!

Sheila (Bookjourney) said...

This sounds good! I am always in for a great Christian read and adding a beach to it is all the better!
I dont know that I have a favorite beach. Living in Minnesota they are pretty populated and few and far between. However, my dream home would be on a secluded beach where I could forever be curling up in a chair or on a blanket, basking in the son with a good book.
