Win He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not (a Memoir) by Trish Ryan

To win a copy of this book merely post a comment telling me why you want to read it. I will pick a winner Sunday. Have fun and bet wishes to you.

About the book:

Trish Ryan was the quintessential successful thirtysomething woman -- she had a career as an attorney, a nice car, and a succession of men clamoring for her affection. But despite all her accomplishments, the things by which she defined her life continually left her disappointed, especially when it came to dating. Like the heroines of chick-lit novels and Sex and the City, she couldn't escape her bad luck with men: men who cheated, who left her, who made her a lesser version of herself. After years of trying everything out there to make love work -- new age philosophy, feminist empowerment, myriads of self-help programs -- she finally, hesitantly, decided to give God a try. This is Ryan's story of how her search for the right guy turned into the search for the right God, and (spoiler alert!) how she ended up with the happily-ever-after ending.

My thoughts:

I started reading this story yesterday and I'm on page 103, chapter 11. I just can't stop reading this memoir. It reads like a fiction novel. If you've ever felt depressed about relationships that were going nowhere, you will identify with the author. If you had a lousy marriage that was downright emotionally abusive, you will understand the author's perspective. It's almost depressing, but I sense hope is just around the corner. And I thought I had it bad before I was saved! Reading this book helped put some things into perspective for me. I'll finish this one for sure and post a review soon.

This soounds like an interesting book. I have been following Trish's Forty Days of Faith blog since it started at the beginning of June. This is patterned after the process she went through with a few friends when they were frustrated with the lack of potential mates in their lives. Of course now she has different "dreams" she is praying for.

Several people have joined in with a wide variety of dreams they are praying for and hoping to have fulfilled. She also includes a daily scripture reading and songs that apply to the day's topic as well as her own reflection on the scripture, song and/or topic for the day.

Anyway many of those following this blog and leaving comments are raving about the book as well and I'm finding myself digging deeper into my relationship with the Lord as I pray and read through the entries and comments.

I'd love to read this book and see why so many people find it so irresistible. And as a single in my mid 30's perhaps it can provide a glimpse of hope that it isn't ever too late for God to bless us with the desires of our heart.

Thanks,
Melissa

I would LOVE to win this book!!! It's actually on my "to get" list already. As a single girl in her 30s, I feel it would be encouraging to read how someone in my position found their Mr. Right... using faith and prayer.
Thanks!!

I'd love to read this because I could have written it. All the bad relationships and wondering why as a young Christian woman. God knew the desires of my heart, right? But when I focused on HIM, I found (or was found by) him.

This is the first I've heard of this book - and to be honest I want it for my best friend. She is a thirtysomething (for a few more years anyways). She has been looking for the right guy since we became best friends in middle school - but never found him. She is currently pretty depressed about it - she wants a husband and kids so badly! I try to get her to go to church with me - but she's always got an excuse. I really believe that if she'd find the "right God" she'd eventually end up with the "right Guy" or at least peace and not depression over being alone.
I want to read it first, but rest assured - I'd be passing it on to her!
Thanks for the chance!

Thanks for this lovely book review and giveaway. It sounds delightful and uplifting. Since my young husband's untimely death a year ago it has been hard to read anything, but this book sounds as if I could benefit and perhaps learn from the writing. Thanks.

First, I love memoir's and secondly, I can totally relate to this book. Before I became saved I dated a stalker, a heavy drinker, a whimmpy guy and an ego maniac. So I'd love to see the comparisons. LOL

I am no longer in my 30s, I am happily married, but I'm always intrigued by a good read. When you state that you've read so much so quickly and that you will be finishing it, that sold me. Please add my name to the pot.

I was certain that I left a comment, but I don't see it. So... I'd love to be included in this giveaway because I like to read memoirs if they are well written, and you're giving it a high rating when you say that you will finish this one.

I think too many of us expect a spouse to fill those places in our lives that only God can fill....

I'm inspired when I read stories of women who've overcome adversity. The fact that God played a major role in Trish's life appeals to me. I'd love to see how He worked to take her from woeful worldly wanderings to a life of hope and her own happily-ever-after.

I am usually more inclined to read the historicals, since that is what I write, but I have to say, this book sounds so intriguing! I just finished reading Emma Simpson's "The Civil War Diary, Dear America, When Will This Cruel War Be Over" It was so good!
Please enter me into this contest. I would be blessed to win.

Thanks and many blessings to you and the author,

It is strange how one's reading "tastes" change over time. A few years ago I would not have been interested in a memoir. Now I look for more meaty, meaningful reading and well written memoirs are topping my list. would love to read this!
