New giveaway! This week I'm giving away Tomorrow's Sun by Becky Melby.

For a chance to win this book simply post a comment answering this question. If you bought a house with a lot of history attached (like the Civil War and the house used to be a place used by the "Underground Railroad," would you leave the house looking similar to its historical condition, or remodel it to make it appear more contemporary? After all, it's your house. So what would you do?

I will choose a winner using the Randomizer program next Sunday. Have a great week!

About the book:

Emily Foster won't allow herself to move on until she earns enough money to make restitution for the accident that stole a young girl's dreams. Flipping houses sounds like the fast track to her goal, but when her first project turns out to be a stop on the Underground Railroad, Emily finds herself drawn to, but at odds with, the contractor she hires. Jake Braden needs to focus on gaining guardianship of his late sister's twins, but the story of lost love uncovered in Emily's house sets the stage for what might become his own lost love.

My thoughts:

I've only had a chance to read the first three chapters, but so far I like it. The premise sounds interesting and it's holding my interest. I hope to have a review posted by the end of the week.

thanks for the Chance to win Michelle :) it sounds like another great read !!

I think if I was to buy a house like that , with all the history and stories behind it I would do my best to restore it back as close to its original content with a touch of modern day as well ! It would be awesome tho to have a chance to restore a home that way and to share the life of the house !! Have a Blessed Weekend !!!

Tomorrow's Sun sounds really intriguing. If I had an old house with history, I would restore it. I love old houses, they have so much character!

If I bought a house with that kind of history I would probably try to restore it to its original condition. I think it would be important for us not to lose all our history. Sounds like a great read!

I would combine new & old. I have an attic and would love it if I could make a sancuary to ponder and read. though I would like something better then a church pew. my house was built before electricty and bathroom. in fact have outhouse still but its nailed shut.

Wonderful comments! It was hard for me to write from the point of view of a character who wanted to knock down walls erected a century and a half earlier. I love old houses, so I had to come up with a compelling reason why Emily would want to turn a historic landmark into something modernized just to sell quickly. But my love of history made it fun to write Jake's indignation at the the thought of carrying out Emily Foster's plan.

We lived in a 100 year old home for 16 years...No significant historical
history, but we restored it from the outside in. We wouldn't even put siding on it, but took 2 years for
my husband to literally scrape to
the bare wood.
I really miss our old home!
Many thanks, Cindi

I would definitely try to restore it - I love history and feel like I was born in the wrong time. ;-) Thanks for the giveaway!

If I bought an old house, I might update appliances and such but I would try and keep the history of the house as much as possible. I grew up in a 100+ year old house and loved it!

I'd love to be entered :) cbus.blogger@gmail.com

I love Victorian houses, so I'd probably want to leave the house looking similar to its historical condition.

Thanks for the giveaway! Would love to win.
