Revell blog tour stop for A Heard Divided by Kathleen Morgan with bonus review!

A Family Feud Threatens Sarah Caldwell’s Dreams For a Better Life…
Could Love Be Her Salvation?

Sarah’s jumbled thoughts gradually righted themselves. No matter what she had promised her mother, she could do nothing for her father unless he chose to change. Indeed, she was just as likely to sacrifice her own life and happiness – and that of her little brother’s – and still not get her father to give up his hopeless quest.

After a brief respite from writing, award-winning author Kathleen Morgan pens a masterpiece novel set against the backdrop of the beautiful Colorado Rockies. A Heart Divided (ISBN: 978-0-8007-1884-8, May 2011, $14.99) will capture readers with a saga of family feuding, abandonment, intriguing love, betrayal, and forgiveness.  For more information, visit

Heart Divided, A: A Novel (Heart of the Rockies)
About the book:

It is 1878 and the Caldwells and Wainwrights have been feuding for decades. Still, Sarah Caldwell has misgivings when her father pressures her into distracting a ranch hand while he and her brothers rob the Wainwright place. When it becomes clear that hand is actually Cord Wainwright, Sarah realizes she needs to lay low. But Cord spots her in town and, with the sheriff away, makes a citizen's arrest, dragging her off to the Wainwright ranch until the sheriff's return. As the feud boils over, Cord and Sarah make a most inconvenient discovery--they are falling in love. Can they betray their families for love? Or will their families betray them?

"Be still my heart--Kathleen Morgan is back, and she's better than ever! “Exceptional! Kathleen Morgan turns the classic feuding families plot into an unforgettable story of love and forgiveness. Her lyrical prose paints a vivid picture of life in the Rockies. A powerful story of love and the true meaning of family. A Heart Divided is a book to be savored again and again.”—Amanda Cabot, author, Tomorrow’s Garden
"A well-crafted story of two hearts divided by vengeful fathers and feuding families that threaten to destroy true love. A Heart Divided is a thoroughly enjoyable romance set in the magnificent Colorado Rockies!"--Maggie Brendan, author, Heart of the West series

My review:

I really enjoyed A Heart Divided. The hero in the novel was like many men who have a lot of anger bottled inside them. The hero was justified in what he was upset over, but at the same time he learned like we all do that holding resentment only hurts the people you love, and hurts you even more. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and witnessing the softening of Cord's heart over time. I loved the ruse that Nick and Sarah put together that failed miserably. I also appreciated the realism in the romance. I don't typically enjoy stories where the hero and heroine are angry with each other so much, but in this case I did see the stubborn hearts of each of them as key to the plot as opposed to a way to fill in space and create artificial tension.

The romantic elements of the story were very delectable. I have to admit that I love a story that gets my heart pounding, and this story definitely did that for me. The kisses were worth waiting for and the anticipation kept building. I loved that. I also appreciated the spiritual thread. It was intricately woven into the plot in a way that made sense to me. It's funny how I've read so many books lately with hard-hearted heroes in them when it comes to faith in God. This theme was more well done in this novel than in most cases. A Heart Divided is the perfect title for this book, but ultimately it's the hearts uniting that brought me the most inspiration. I enjoyed this novel and will definitely read more stories penned by Kathleen Morgan.

A Heart Divided was published by Revell and released in May 2011. A copy of the book was provided to me to review for the tour. The opinion expressed above is entirely my own.
