To enter to win a copy of this book please post a comment about whether you feel like you still live a performance based life, or if you've learned that no matter what you do you are good enough because Jesus died for you. I will pick a winner through the Randomizer program next Sunday. Best wishes to you!
About the book: High-powered executive Steven Kerner is living the dream in southern California. But when his bottled pain ignites in anger one night, his wife kicks him out. Then an eccentric mystery man named Andy Monroe befriends Steven and begins unraveling his tightly wound world. Andy leads Steven through a series of frustrating and revealing encounters to repair his life through genuine friendship and the grace and love of a God who has been waiting for him to accept it. A story to challenge and encourage, BO'S CAFE is a model for all who struggle with unresolved problems and a performance-based life. Those who desire a fuller, more authentic way of living will find this journey of healing a restorative exploration of God's unbridled grace.
My thoughts: I don't have this book so I can't give an opinion, but it has an interesting premise that sounds similar to Rooms, but without the house.

I think I am in the process of transformation. There are times I definitely struggle with performance. I really feel this is something that God is working on in my life...I am a recovering perfectionist.

During a VERY dark time in our lives, a pastor gave my husband and me a copy of John Lynch's message called True-faced about grace. It was exactly what we needed to hear (over and over and over again) through that period. We were broken beyond anything our own "performing" could repair - only Jesus, by grace, could put the pieces back together. He continues to do so - admittedly, there are times when my performance-mode gets in the way and I have to let HIM break and re-set something - YUCK! - but I have learned that my greatest effort doesn't even come close to the results of letting HIM work in and through me.
I greatly respect these men, and although I've not yet read this, I'm certain that the Lord is working mightily through them and expect great things of it!
Blessings to you!

Percy,
If you go to http://www.truefaced.com/blog/media/mp3-download/ you can download (for FREE) John Lynch's True-faced message on grace that will totally change your life.
And God DOES bless our obedience - not because we earn His blessing but because He loves us soooo much.
Becky
