Wow, I can relate to trying to rise above troubled situations etc.
I've lived through so much in my life, personally and through family or friends.
suicide
drug addiction
mental illness
physical abuse
emotional abuse
alzheimers
heart attacks
Oh, man, I could go on and on! From the description this book sounds pretty interesting; I enjoy books that give new perspectives on different situations.

The book looks good. The one person I know who rose above a troubled past would be my grandmother. Both her parents died when she was 5 and she was raised in foster care. This is during the depression when she never knew when her next meal would come from. The experience has made her a stronger and compassionate person.
My fiance is rising above his troubled past. He spent the last year homeless and lost pretty much everything he owned. He went from living a very comfortable life with a woman who loved him very much, but because of his troubled past, anxiety disorder and depression, he ended up losing everything. God "found" him under a lilac bush passed out from a two week drunk, he has no recollection of. However, at that time he felt God's presence and has been struggling to get back on his feet ever since and in the process, we found each other. Thank you for the entry.

I don't believe it mentions if these stories are true or fictional. Sounds like it might be a good read. I love to read stories of people who overcome trials and it makes them stronger in the long run.

At the risk of sounding self-serving, I'll say myself. I am really proud of myself. I had a very abusive father, a troubled childhood and a drug problem. Now I am out of college and getting my life together. <3
