Now I'm giving away Summer Snow by Nicole Baart!

To enter the giveaway simply post a comment about what intrigues you about this book and I will enter your name. I'll pick a winner on Sunday. Don't forget to leave me a way to contact you if you win. Best wishes!

About the book:

Julia DeSmit is finally learning to accept her new life. Optimistic and anxious to begin again after dropping out of college, she is taking fumbling steps down a challenging yet hope-filled road. But the careful existence Julia has begun to build falls hopelessly to pieces when her estranged mother, Janice, appears on the front porch one icy March night. Mother and daughter have not seen or talked to each other in ten years, and a decade of anger, resentment, and bitterness follows in Janice's wake, along with a surprise Julia could never have anticipated. Julia is convinced that which is broken cannot be mended. Yet when she faces the very decision her mother did years before, she begins to realize what it means to truly accept grace. Will it be her undoing or the impetus for a change she'd never dared hope for?

My thoughts:

I loved, loved, loved After the Leaves Fall by Nicole so I know I'll love this one, too. I've only read through page 35 but so far I'm liking it as much as before. I just like the way Nicole writes. It's unique and her voice is confident and strong, almost lyrical. So be assured a review is coming for this one. I just have SO many books to read that it may not be as soon as I'd like.

It would probably make me cry since I'm pretty much estranged from my mother.

What's intriguing?

1) Does she ever go back and finish college? That's my dream one day.

2) What's the decision she's facing that her mom also faced? Why are they estranged?

Please enter my name into your drawing.

Thanks!

My favorite genre is books dealing with broken family relationships and the healing process. My mother and I had a wonderful relationship, which is probably why I'm drawn to the mother-daughter relationship. Thank you for the opportunity to win a copy.

Now I know what summer snow is. :) Only month on record that it hasn't snowed in ND is July. Oh, I'd love to win this book and read it.

I never really knew my mother and she died when I was a teen, I was raised by my grandmother so it would be nice to read how they get to know each other again.

Relationships between mothers and daughters are always interesting as they're so complex. However, to be so upset that a decade goes by . . . whew! I can't imagine that.

But, what made Julia drop out of college, and does she return?

I enjoy reading books that deal with relationships...it takes a lot of talent to pull a reader in based on so much conversation and no strong mystery or love interest to push things along. I really like the cover of this book, too! I love the smell of laundry dried in the sun. It reminds me of simpler times (well, maybe not simpler based on the amount of work that needed to be done!)

Please include me in the drawing

Sounds interesting as a Mother who has walked through rebellion for three years by oldest daughter. It was the hardest walk I've ever had to walk being a Christian and never rebelling against my parents. I wasn't prepared at all.

Once I start reading, I'm hooked for hours. I find a bit of myself somewhere in the book as well as others in my life and past. I'm excited to see how Julia chooses to use her situation and how others respond to it.
