NOTE:
My review copy just arrived on 7-17-12. I am reading this now. Melanie is an outstanding writer so it has to be good. If I get it soon I'll post a review if I can before the promo ends on Sunday. Otherewise, I'll post it as part of the blog tour next week.
About the book:
It’s the height of the Gilded Age, but Elena Bissette’s family has lost most of its fortune.
The Bissettes still own a home on fashionable Mackinac Island, and they spend summers there in hopes of introducing Elena to a wealthy suitor. Quickly tiring of the extravagant balls at the Grand Hotel, she spends her days walking along the island’s rugged coastline. There she meets Chase, a young fisherman who invites her to watch the ships from an abandoned lighthouse. The two begin to meet there in secret, hoping to solve a decades-old mystery. Meanwhile, Elena’s mother contrives introductions between Elena and the island’s most eligible bachelor, an elusive millionaire named Chester Darrington. When Elena’s two worlds unexpectedly collide, she will be in for the surprise of her life.
And the question is... Do you enjoy books about the Gilded Age, and if so, what about that time period do you enjoy reading about?

I haven't read too many books set in the Gilded Age, but those I have read, I've liked. I think it's something about the propriety, and of course descriptions of the clothing and balls don't hurt either!

being originally from Europe the term "Gilded Age" was a rather new term for me. I like this period because of the clash of tradition with industrialization and their eventual merge, I adore Poe and Twain and would love to time travel one day back to the days of the reign of Queen Victoria
*thanks for the chance to win*
Melanie, i like reading thing from the Civil War period. To read about how they dressed, their lifestyle, their courtship, their balls, the mansion.
I thank you for the chance to win "Love Finds You In Mackinac Island ". Norma
I don't think I have ever read a book set in the Gilded Age. This one looks really exciting though. Thanks for the chance to win!
