My thoughts:
I don't have this book but I loved the first one in this series. Mindy has created a unique product with her Amish romance and suspense all packed in one novel that keeps you reading. At least that is what she did with
Shadows of Lancaster County.
I love to read Mindy Starns Clark books and the Amish Suspense genre is my favorite. I also like Secrets in the Deep South series by Mindy, as well as the AmishReader.com blog.

Mindy has written many books that I've heard about, but have not had the chance to read any of them. She has a great creative reputation as an Amish writer and I enjoy Amish stories. Yes, I think there should be a subgenre. I feel it would be a step forward for the authors and the readers of Amish writings. Thank you for this giveaway, it sounds super good. ReplyDeleteI'm not sure. I pretty much read straight Amish fiction when I do and often times books are pretty specific due to title, cover or back cover. It would depend on how wide the genre continues to grow. :)

ReplyDeleteI think that if it says Amish fiction than it wouldn't have a mystery in it. If it's suspense I think it should say. When I see that a book is called Women's Fiction I then know that it's not going to be primarily a romance. The woman is probably already married.

I pretty much read any form of Amish fiction, whether it leans toward romance, mystery, etc. Since so many books are available now with several Amish fiction authors, I know whose style I like to read more as opposed to what subgenre.

Yes, I think it would be very helpful to have sub genres under Amish fiction. Yesterday, I read about Amish mysteries and the author suggested that Amish suspense would probably attract a different kind of read than someone who likes to read Amish romances.

I don't usually read Amish fiction but I do like Mindy Starns Clark's books. Having subgenres of Amish fiction seems to make sense since there are so many Christian fiction books about the Amish. Dare I say maybe it's being overdone?

I think the subgenre is a great idea! Although that too can be missleading, and might make you think the subgenre is the point of the book. I don't know. I think it would be a good addition, though. :)
