Check it out! Isn't it gorgeous? I have the best friends. And so talented. I just wish this was the permanent cover but the digital imagining is too grainy for a book cover so we have to do a photo shoot with a photographer. Hopefully it will still capture what I want it to. So which picture do you like the best? The old or the new (now keep in mind the targeted audience is YA young adult.)

I like the old one best. The letters are more legible (though I like the font style on the title on the new cover) and you can see the girl's cool clothes, too.

The new one appeals to me. Sports a bit more of "attitude" (not in a negative way)for the YA crowd. The closeup makes you want "more" if that makes sense.

ReplyDeleteI like the new one better, but the font is tough to read. I think you should go with an easier to read font, but not the sharp one one the old cover because the old cover font looks too much like non-fiction.

Anyway, clearer font and the new cover.

ReplyDeleteOriginally I liked the first one because of the legibility, but for the YA audience, I think the new cover would work better -- more of a close-up, therefore making it more introspective and moody ... which is how I was at that age! :) Although both are pretty cool, so you can't go wrong!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the second cover, but I would change the type color to white again. The closeup photo with the title to the side looks "professional" and appealing to younger audiences, but it's hard to read. That would blend the two styles perfectly.

ReplyDeleteI like the new cover best but the title is a bit hard to read due to a lack of contrast. White might work better or just let the designers play with the color of the words till it works. The graphics people usually know their stuff and can make guesses as to what color will show better and still work with the rest of the color scheme on the cover.
